New Social Media Series: A Sampler

By Tom Castor | May 2, 2025 |

In previous articles, we mentioned that we had started a new series of posts on our A Simple Word Facebook and Instagram accounts. The series started at Easter and will continue through mid-August.

The posts will follow the basic outline of our book, Simple Answers to Not-so-Simple Questions (which you may download for free HERE). These posts differ from the chapters in the book in two noticeable ways. One, the posts will be shorter. While the content is much the same, it is edited to fit the format. Two, the pieces are written in even simpler English. While the book targeted an ESL Reader with a grade Four (4.35) reading proficiency, these articles are even more accessible.

Here is one of the posts that is scheduled to appear in June. It scores a Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level under three (3) and a Flesch Reading Ease score of over 90. (For those who may not have an ESL background, those are very good scores for the audience we are attempting to reach.)

Please pray that God will use the work we are doing to reach as many people as possible. And ask God to teach us how to use the tools we have at our disposal in an even more efficient way.

POST Fifty-Four (54)

Jesus: The Perfect Sacrifice Without Sin

Jesus is the Son of God. Before the world began, He was one with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. But when He came into the world as a man, He came as a servant.

Jesus came is the one who came to save His people from their sins. He was the promised Son to Abraham, the greater prophet than Moses, and the king from David’s family. He would rule a kingdom that would never end.

But Jesus did not look like a king.

He did not live in a palace. He did not lead an army. He grew up in a carpenter’s home. He was meek and humble. He was kind to the sick, the sad, and the forgotten.

And Jesus knew that God was His Father. So, Jesus lived to please Him in every way. He obeyed God’s law completely. Even when it meant suffering, Jesus obeyed.

That is what makes Jesus different. He was without sin. He never had an evil thought. He never said an evil word. He did everything God asked.

Sin is breaking God’s law. Sin is doing wrong or failing to do right. All people born after Adam and Eve are born with sin. But Jesus was born without sin. He had no human father. He was the only Son of the eternal God. Jesus was holy—set apart from sin. He was pure in every way.

Why does this matter?

In the Old Testament, people brought perfect lambs to the Temple as sacrifices for their sins. The lamb they brought had to be pure from any sickness. The lamb had to be without any defect. During the sacrifice, the priest did not take the life of the person who had done wrong. Instead, the lamb gave its life to pay for the sin.

When John the Baptist saw Jesus, he said,

“Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”

Jesus would be that perfect lamb. If He had sinned, He could not help us. But because Jesus never sinned, He could give His life to take away our sins. He is the perfect sacrifice—pure, holy, and sent to save.

‘Jesus did not have any sin. But God put our sin on Him. Now we can be made right with God because of what Jesus has done for us.’
