New Books off the Press In East Africa

Last August, our friend Marwa asked if we could help sponsor the translation of two of our books into Tigrinya to support a TTI outreach project. Since both books have helped with evangelism and church planting among the Swahili and Hausa, he thinks they will be valuable for this new effort too.

The Joshua Project describes the Tigray people as only superficially reached, with just 0% to 0.01% being Evangelicals. Most Tigray people are Coptic or Ethiopian Orthodox, while a smaller group are Sufi or Sunni Muslims. International news sources call the region extremely high risk in an already unstable country.

They chose The Jesus Story and Simple Truths for the New Believer as the best resources for this project. Marwa soon found a skilled and motivated Tigrinya translator who would follow our translation guidelines. He was willing to do the work for much less than what this kind of translation usually costs.

So far, we have paid for the translation costs: $400 for Simple Truths and $320 for The Jesus Story. To finish the project, we estimate we need to raise another $2,500. This amount will cover the first printing and allow us to distribute 4,000 books, with 2,000 copies of each title.

As you read this, the translators and designers have finished their work, and just a few days ago, the Tigrinya books were printed.

This printing and distribution effort supports a project started by the Timothy Initiative (TTI) to reach the Tigray region in Ethiopia. Although Clear & Simple Media is not officially connected to TTI, we have always admired their work and do our best to encourage and support them.

Please pray for the evangelists and church planters who will be heading to the Tigray Region with these new tools in hand.
