Myanmar Update: a Project Report

By Tom Castor | May 14, 2026 |

If you have followed the history of Clear & Simple Media, you know that the nation of Myanmar, and the work of Lai Ro Thang (Rova) have been pivitol to our early understanding of the value of what we had begun and the potential impact of our books in translation. In recent days, two additional books were added to the Burmese outreach in and around Yangon. As an update, Rova, our champion in Myanmar, sent us a report.

I have included his report in full for two reasons. First, the let you know about the way our projects develop. Second, to give you a glimpse of the quality of our partnerships. I think you will find the report thorough, thoughtful, and a glimpse of the kind of partner we have in Myanmar.

And Rova is just one of many quality partnerships God has blessed us with worldwide.

Here is the report in full.

May 11, 2026 (Monday Night)

First of all, I praise God who gave me privilege to translate the above two books written and published by Clear and Simple Media. And I am truly thankful to Tom Castor and the people with Clear and Simple Media for allowing me to translate their books into Burmese that is the common language of the country of Myanmar, and of 55 million people, and for raising the funds for the publication of them as well. I really appreciate your prayers for success of the translation and publication of them. I do appreciate for your great generosity for book publication in people’s own language like these ones that will strengthen the church and expanse the kingdom of God here in Myanmar. I pray that God will continue to use and bless Clear and Simple Media more and more!

Translation Work of the Two Books

Firstly, I started translating the book of the Jesus Story God’s Promise from about the first week of February 2025. I spent at least one whole day on translating it weekly. And I finished the translation work of it by the end of February 2025. It means that the translation work on the Jesus Story God’s Promise was done within a month. But it still needed editing, proofreading, making book cover-design and arranging page numbers, etc.

As I finished translating the Jesus Story God’s Promise by the end of February 2025, I started translating the second book entitled Simple Stories from the Life of Jesus into Burmese from the first of week of March 2025. From the last week of March 2025 until the second week of July 2025, I had stopped my translation work on it due to some family challenges caused by my father’s sickness and death, and due to some church matters. My wife and I were also travelling to Korea in May 2025. We came back home from our travelling by the end of May. Since there were many other works that I had to do for my pastoral ministry, I could not continue my translation work as soon as we came back home. Thus, I was able to resume it only from the third week of July 2025. As a pastor, since I was busy with my pastoral work in the whole month of December, 2025, so I stopped my translation work for one month again. Finally, I was able to finish my translation of Simple Stories from the Life of Jesus by the end of January 2026.

Editing Work and Proofreading of the Two Books

As I finished the translation work of the two books, I had them edited by my two friends who are pastors and native Burmese speaking men and who have sound theological and biblical knowledge. It took them for about a month. They both carefully corrected errors (grammar, spelling), and removed unnecessary elements. They also focused on content and structure of the raw draft of my Burmese translation. I am truly thankful to them for their priceless help in editing the books.

I have three proofreaders for my translation of the two books. Each of them spent on proofreading for about a week. They all focused on spelling, punctuation and number (singular or plural). My proofreaders are laymen in the church, but they are good at Burmese grammar. I am thankful to them. As editing and proofreading were done, I had printed out each book for five times with my personal printer.

Design and Typing of the Two Books in Bumese

Cover designs of the books and a map inside the book of Simple Stories from the Life of Jesus were changed into Burmese version by my second youngest daughter named Eliana. So I am very thankful to her. My wife Lai Ram Mawi helped me in typing the books. I am truly grateful to my wife for her invaluable help.

Publication of the Two Books

In order for me to be able to bring the two books to the printing press, it took me sevenweeks after I finished my raw draft of translation. Finally, I was able to bring the final soft copies of the books to the printing press on March 13, 2026. The printing work and book binding were done on March 12, 2026. And the thousand copies of each book were delivered to us on March 13, 2026.

Distribution of the two books

I am planning to distribute the books to churches, Bible schools, and Christian book stores in Yangon city. Before we do distribution of the books, we will do a dedication service in our church. The dedication service of the books will be done in the last week May 2026 because I am waiting for another book that its publication will be done on May 22, 2026. The title of the book is Trusting God Even When Life Hurts by Jerry Bridges. I translated it into Mizo dialect as I was given permission by NavPress. I am planning to make a dedication service for your two books and that book at the same. I will invite about 70 people, and hope to invite at least 25 pastors, 25 Bible school teachers and 20 laymen, so that the books will be introduced to many Christians through those invited people in a speedy and easy way. I am planning to sell the books at a price that covers costs of publication expenditure.

We are often over whelmed when we think of how God has assembled so many champions to help grow and shepherd our ministry worldwide. We have books in nearly 70 translations, in use in every inhabited continent around the world. We would have none of this had God not brought the right people into our lives. People whose heart for Jesus and the people He loves made them ideal partners for the work God has given us to do.
