Books for Another Compassion Project in Burkina Faso

Sapouy is a mid-sized town in the Center-West region of Burkina Faso. The travel brochure (there is one) describes it this way.

Sapouy used to be a sleepy crossroads where the red dust settled on everything and the only reason to stop was a flat tire or a bowl of tô at a roadside shack. Today, it’s still a pause more than a destination, but the town hums with a little more energy—thanks to its spot on the main Ouagadougou–Léo highway in southern Burkina Faso. Sapouy is not quite scenic, but honest, with a market that smells of smoked fish and shea butter, and a handful of basic auberges where you’ll swap stories with truckers, not tourists. It’s easy to reach by bush taxi, and you can walk most places, though don’t expect nightlife or a hostel scene. Sapouy is quiet, cheap, and feels like a genuine slice of rural Burkina—best used as a springboard for nearby villages or a breather between bigger jumps.

What you may also want to see, if you are interested, is one of the many Compassion Projects in Ziro Province. Burkina Faso is a majority Muslim country, and yet, dozens of families allow their children to come, receive help with schoolwork, eat nourishing meals, and hear the story of Jesus. To help them along, earlier this month, Dieudonné Somé delivered several hundred Clear & Simple Media books to the Compassion Project in Sapouy. This is our third Compassion partnership in the country.

Our partnership with Compassion actually began in Ecuador almost 20 years ago. In 2007, Sixto Gamboa translated Simple Truths for the New Believer into Spanish and Compassion Ecuador redesigned the book to use in Compassion Projects all of the country.

For Compassion Burkina Faso, we printed more than 2,500 books to satisfy the total need. Dieudoinné will be delivering the remainder of the books to three more projects when the programs begin in early October.

If you are not familiar with Compassion International, THIS LINK will help.

We are constantly thanking God for how He is using our books in so many different ways, in so many different places.

NOTE: The little girl in the picture is Dorcas, one of the hundreds of children in Compassion Projects in Burkina Faso.
