Simple Answers to Not So Simple Questions: A Book Review
By Tom Castor | May 15, 2021 | News
A few days ago, I received an email from my friend, Jimmy Smith. Jimmy lives in Denver, Colorado, where he serves as a Church Mobilization Specialist with Converge. We sent Jimmy a copy of our book, Travel Guide to the Bible, and asked him to give it to his daughter Cara to read as a part of our field-testing for the book. Cara was 12 years old at the time. We found her feedback so helpful, that we sent our latest book to Denver and asked Cara to give us a review. Here is how Jimmy’s email began:
Hey Tom, My daughter Cara, the voracious reader, read your new book today. Yes, she devoured it in one day.
Now remember, the book, Simple Answers to NOT SO Simple Questions, is about theology. Doctrine. And the book is 300 pages long (not including subject and scripture indexes). While I wrote the book to be simple to read and easy to understand, I never imagined that someone would read the entire book in one day! I am guessing that that record will stand for a very long time. Below is her review:
As it states on the cover, this book truly is “a book for all believers”. Even though I’ve been a Christian from a young age, I was still able to learn a lot of new information. The answers were very easy to read and comprehend. As stated in the preface, the book was written as if the person reading it had learned English as a second language. The questions and answers are directed to people who are new to faith, but there is still so much to learn as a long time believer. There is even a section at the end which goes into detail about the life of Jesus. There are so many details we overlook when inspecting the Bible and examining scripture. This book makes it easy and simple without leaving out important concepts.
