Earlier this year, we announced the relaunch of our www.asimpleword.org website. This site is our primary delivery site, which houses all of our written and audio content.
Since that relaunch, we have been working on two projects, translating that site into two languages. The French translation of the site (www.unsimplemot.org) will target Francophone West Africa. Then, in partnership with Shoaib Ebadi and Afghanistan Next Generation, we are helping his team build and translate the content from our site into Dari for Afghani readers.
Before we launch those two new sites, we thought it might be wise to increase traffic to the English site before we go multilingual. That increased traffic will help us discover potential gaps in our follow-up process.
To do this, we placed two ads on a local electronic billboard in a community near us two weeks ago. The ads appear for six seconds, once each minute, 24 hours a day for six weeks. We hope that the ads will drive traffic to the website, those visitors will engage with the site content, and we will be able to fine-tune our ability to do effective follow-up with the people who visit the site. Then, we can pass on what we learn to our partners.
