The “little Book” speaks Ukrainian

During a recent trip to Canada, we spoke to a Ukrainian congregation. After the service, the leaders asked if we had any of our books, in particular, Simple Truths, in Ukrainian. At that point, we told them no.
Historically, we only engage in a translation project where we know that the book will be of help to an existing group or congregation. Also, that group or congregation would need to be networked in a way that would ensure the future distribution of the material. To that point, those two things had never been in place for the Ukrainian language.
Now, with the trouble in Ukraine, increasing numbers of Ukrainian people are moving from their homeland. They are scattering to many different places across the world, including North America. As we listened to the stories that these people told us, we realized that we had a new translation project ahead of us. This congregation was not only connected with other Ukrainian groups across North America but had significant connections with individuals and churches in Ukraine.
According to our new friends, the Ukrainian church is desperate for material to strengthen existing Christians, and to help new Christians there, become firmly established in their new faith. There are currently more than 40 million Ukrainian speakers in the world today.
On October 25, 2019, we launched a new translation project for Simple Truths in the Ukrainian language. While this project will take several months before the book completes field testing, we ask our readers to pray for the next steps in this project. We look forward to a day soon, when God will use our “little book” to bless the Ukrainian church.
