The “little book” Boards a Ship to Togo

Togo is a country in West Africa bordered by Ghana to the west, Benin to the east and Burkina Faso to the north. Togo is one of the smallest countries in Africa with a population of approximately 7.6 million. 20% of the Togolese are Muslim. However, the majority, 51%, follow one of many indigenous African religions. A very large number of the people practice and are involved with voodoo.

In recent years, Togo has seen its share of difficulties. The northern section of the country has been the target of jihadists, with several people being kidnapped or killed. The situation in Togo, both political and economic, led an African publication to name Togo “the most unhappy country in West Africa.”

Still, God is working! In the central and southern sections of the country, there has been significant signs of gospel expansion. Churches are being planted. Ministries are growing.

This growth has led to the demand for material to help the church give new believers a good foundation for their new faith. Recently, two mission groups in Togo, ABWE and CONVERGE examined our “little book” (Simple Truths) in French and felt that it was the tool they needed. French is the official language of Togo.

The week of March 17, we delivered 1200 copies of the French version of Simple Truths for the New Believer to a location in Florida. From there, the books will be shipped (literally) to Togo in April.

We continue to thank God for the way he has chosen to use this little book. At last count, there are nearly 600,000 of the books in print and in use in over 40 countries in the world.
