Print runs on three books – Travel Guide to the Bible, Simple Stories, and Simple Truths for the New Believer arrived in Winnipeg on February 1, 2018 -one day before the start of Missionfest Manitoba. This shipment of 22,000 books includes copies of our evangelical catechism (Simple Truths for New Believers) translated and printed in 14 languages other than English.
The arrival of the shipment made the books available for a test-run of a new CSM project called The Simple Truths Challenge. Select individuals who attended Missionfest were asked to take three Simple Truths books – two in English and one in another language of their choice. They were then asked to keep an English copy and give away the other two to a newcomer to Canada who speaks the language they chose. They were then to offer to have coffees or meals with this newcomer to help them practice their English or to help them understand the questions and answers in the book. The final step in the challenge is to write CSM and tell how those conversations have gone.
This print run included 1,000 books in each of the following languages: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Farsi, French, German, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Indonesian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. We expect participants in The Simple Truths Challenge to begin reporting in March.
