Simple Stories Show Up in Surprising Places
By Tom Castor | February 14, 2019 | News
Clear and Simple Media was founded to place resources into the hands of untrained or under-trained church planters in Vietnam. Since that time, we have watched God take our books and put them in places and use them in ways that we had not imagined.
Several church in North America have now found our resources helpful in teaching English to new immigragts and/or refugees who have come to their neighbourhoods. But recently, a church in Canada thought they would be helpful in their growing ministry to Adults with Disabilities. That has turned out to be just the fit that they were hoping for.
What follows is a letter from the person who oversees that ministry. We found it quite encouraging.
I thought I would send you a quick email to show you another way your “Simple Stories” book is being used.
During our worship service for adults with disabilities there is now a segment called “Simple Stories with Samuel.” One of our participants, Samuel, reads one of the stories from the book. I think I mentioned to you that we gave away a large number of copies to this group as Christmas presents this year which they can use to follow along. I have attached a picture of this for you to see (with permission from our friend). As a side note, this was the first Friendship Club service held at our new church building; in case you don’t recognized the setting.
I really have found this a helpful tool in our ministry. Thanks for all you do.
To give this note some context, the church is a growing congregation of around 1,000 people attending each week. They asked for 200 Simple Story books for their ESL classes and 200 more for their Adults with Disabilities outreach. It looks as though they are putting them to good use.
