Report on Christian Martyrs

The Center for Studies on New Religions (Censur) will publish its annual report this month stating that nearly 90,000 Christians died for their faith in 2016. That number means in 2016; one Christian was martyred every six minutes.
Most of these killings resulted from “tribal conflicts” in Africa, some because Christians refused to take part in violence. The terrorist group Boko Haram accounts for many of those deaths, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
Thirty percent of Christian martyrs were the result of terrorist attacks or the result of direct persecution by governments hostile to Christianity. In the past five years, the Christian population in Syria has been reduced by two-thirds as Christians have either been murdered or fled the country due to violence.
