Rapid Deployment: Swahili Distribution in Kenya.

There are times when projects take years to show results. The Swahili Project does not seem to be one of those.
We wrote in early June about the Swahili translation and printing of two of our most widely distributed books. 10,000 books (5,000 Simple Truths for the New Believer and 5,000 of The Jesus Story) began coming off the presses by June 7. Several weeks prior to that, using the networks available to him, our translator (Marwa) had shared drafts of both books with local pastors and influencers in and around Nairobi. He received positive responses, both regarding the content of the books and the quality of the translation.

By Sunday, June 15, Marwa had received an invitation to meet with 10 pastors (eight pictured above with Marwa) who do evangelism on the streets of Nairobi. In that meeting, he “shared with them about our books. And they were happy to receive the materials to help them in their Evangelism and discipleship work.”
By Sunday, June 29, books were in the hands of church leaders and their congregants in multiple sites in and around the Kenyan capital.
While no dates have been set for the street evangelism initiative, indications from these 10 highly motivated pastors already suggest that the initial printing of 5,000 copies of The Jesus Story in Swahili may not be sufficient.
For those who follow these news pieces, we have talked often of what happens when God brings a champion into our circle of influence. It seems that God has done that again with Marwa Mwikwabe. And he seems to have found ten more.
Please pray for Marwa and the pastors who will be hitting the streets of Nairobi armed with our “little books.” May God use them to make an eternal difference.
