Rapid Deployment 2: Hausa Books Cross Borders
By Tom Castor | July 28, 2025 | News
In mid-June, you were introduced to Pastor Y’au Lawai Imam [HERE]. Pastor Y’au leads a church network among the Hausa people of Northern Nigeria and Southern Niger. Hausa is one of the largest indigenous languages in Africa. The total number of Hausa speakers in West Central Africa exceeds 75 million, with approximately 47 million of those speaking it as their first language. One of the major African languages on the western side of the continent, Hausa is spoken mainly in Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Benin, and Chad.
We began working on the Hausa translation of Simple Truth for the New Believer in May. The printer delivered the books to Pastor Y’au on June 28. By July 2, Pastor Y’au and his team had traveled to the border of Niger, in northern Nigeria, and began distributing the books, using them to engage in conversations about Jesus.

A few days after the team began, we received a brief note (accompanied by an audio testimony in Hausa).
Pastor Ya’u and his team started their Evangelism tour in the North Nigeria this weekend. They will soon be penetrating to Niger – A Muslim dominated area. We pray for boldness and protection even as he spreads the Gospel. He is likely to be in Maradi, Niger by next week.
A few days later, we received this note.
They proceeded to Maradi in Niger, a Muslim dominated area to preach in partnership with other local pastors there. They are using our books to disciple and answer some theological questions they are encountering.
This is a very good testimony of transformation from Pst. Ya’u. A family man who read it and was transformed, along with his household… [From the book] he was clarified on so many things, especially with the help of the scriptural backings. The little book is changing lives. This is just one of them.
Like many pastors and church planters around the world, in Africa, there is no shortage of love for Jesus and passion for evangelism and discipleship. What they often lack are the tools to help them accomplish the task.
We are ever thankful to God for allowing us to put tools in the hands of passionate men and women and see the joy it brings them and the results they accomplish.
If you pray for us and support Clear and Simple Media, you share our joy—and the eternal results that God has graciously provided. On behalf of the believers in Nigeria and Niger, as well as those in the 50 other countries where CSM books are available, thank you for your faithfulness.
