From time to time, we have been asked to write a small book that is specifically “gospel focussed.” While all of our books are gospel oriented, we wrote them as tools for discipling new believers. This request was to write a book for “not-yet-believers.”

That sounds like a simple task. But, as it turns out. it was not as simple as it sounds.

What we wanted to do was not that complicated. Present the message of Jesus to someone who had not heard it. We also wanted to use a small vocabulary, as we have in our other books. That makes what we write accessible to the widest audience of English readers – and highly “translatable.” That means that, without a highly trained translation team, a person could take the English book and put the content into their own language without great difficulty. So we set out to craft a first draft. Then a second, then a fifth and seventh. Each time we sent the drafts to new English readers and English speaking pastors, and a bonafide theologian or two, gathering feedback and editing along the way.

When it came to design, we decided to create two separate layouts. The first layout to appeal to English readers from ages 10-14. The second, more simple and much less costly to print. This would allow us to manageably mass-produce the book for the broadest distribution.

Today, we are pleased to announce that our newest book, The Jesus Story, is available online as an eBook and the first print run is underway.
