March 25 -30, Lee and I will have the privilege of being a part of the CONVERGE Africa Regional Gathering near Dakar, Senegal, West Africa. International workers from all over the African Continent will gather for five days of worship, instruction, strategy sessions, and fellowship. We will be attending as a part of the CONVERGE Ministry Specialist Team to represent Clear and Simple Media and discuss how we can help the teams there. We will talk about how the workers in Africa can use the existing CSM resources. We will also be collecting feedback on what new tools we might be able to develop to enhance the work of disciple making and church planting there.
One of the things we are most looking forward to is introducing the new French translation of the A Simple Word website. This will be the first time missionaries there will be able to see the more than one dozen online courses available on the site. We are also hoping to engage in strategy sessions with missionaries in Francophone West African countries to decide the best ways to train the “first responders’ who will be mentoring the students who take the courses and answer the questions they generate.
After the conference is over, we are not coming straight home. Immediately after the conference, we will be traveling with missionaries from Senegal to visit their work in a small village among the Wolof people who live there. We hope to be an encouragement to them. We also hope to find new ways to help people like them as they seek to win and teach new followers of Jesus.
Please pray for good health. Pray for safety during the long flights and trouble free passage through Senegalese Immigration and Customs. And pray for stamina, as these conferences often involve engaging conversations that can last late into the night.
