Karamin Littafi ~’little book’ in Hausa

We have dicussed our friend Nebié Badiou on several occasions. Nebié leads one of the larger church networks in Burkina Faso. In addition, he has, for a number of years, organized the School of Storying for StoryRunners, (a ministry of CRU) in multiple countries in West Africa. In addition, Nebié has been active with T-Net, a worldwide project to train pastors and church planters. T-Net is now active in 40 countries where they currently have over 10,000 current and aspiring church leaders in training. Because Nebié is a godly man and a natural leader, he seems to rise in influence in most everything he engages in. He has not only been a T-Net student, he is now a T-Net instructor in several African countries.

After a recent training in Niger, Nebié wrote.

Haoussa (Hausa) is one of the biggest language spoken in Niger – and Nigeria and Cameroon. I am trying to find a translator for us.

Nebié has worked with Clear and Simple Media since 2016. He is responsible for multiple translation projects in his home country of Burkina Faso. Now, as his network grows, so does the work of Clear and Simple Media.

The day we received the request, I was in communication with Marwa (our Swahili translator) to check on progress. After we had finished our conversation, I asked if he happened to have a Hausa translator in his network. Within 48 hours, we had secured a translator and begun the Hausa translation of Simple Truths for the New Believer. This “little book” as Nebié has referred to it for the last 9 years, will, Lord willing, be translated and in the hands of Hausa speakers by the end of April. Given the broad networks of the translation team and Nebié’s connections through T-Net, we anticipate that the book will have a very wide audience, very quickly.

The total number of Hausa speakers in West Central Africa is over 75 million, with around 47 million of those speaking it as a first language. One of the major African languages on the western side of the continent, Hausa is spoken mainly in Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Benin and Chad.

Please pray that God continues to provide opportunities to provide tools to help grass-roots church workers give their new converts a good start as they begin their journey to follow Jesus.
