At a recent conference in Indianapolis we had a conversation with Jimmy Smith. Jimmy is the leader for the Converge Nordic-Baltic Initiative. Jimmy oversees the direction, strategy, and engagement of the Initiative and serves the missionary staff.  The Nordic-Baltic Initiative is focused on catalyzing gospel movements and developing transformational leaders.

The Nordic-Baltic region includes eight countries:  Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland, and Denmark.  As a region, it is estimated that only around 2-3% of the population are followers of Christ.  There is physical and spiritual darkness in this far northern region of Europe.  Estonia is recognized as 86% atheistic (the most in Europe), and according to the BBC in 2011, “the least religious country in the world”.

We first met Jimmy several years ago. He has been very interested in our materials and has made contacts for us in the past. After some new conversations and understanding how the ministry has progressed in Estonia he now believes it would be a good time to make some of our materials available in Estonian. Please pray as we continue these conversations that we would know which material should be translated.
