Encouraging response from Bangladesh

Since 2016, Clear and Simple Media has managed two websites that we use to deliver the material we produce. A Simple Word hosts our written material (www.asimpleword.org). Hear A Story (www.hearastory.org) hosts the recordings of the stories that we have written giving an overview of the Bible.

In 2017, we added A Simple Word and Hear A Story Facebook pages to highlight the material on the websites and encourage people to engage with the articles and stories there. On occasion, we post content on those Facebook pages and feature written materials, eBook offers, or a story from one of the websites. Then, we select a country and “boost the posts” to target the country that we have chosen. The boosted posts (or ads) last ten days. At the end of that period, we use analytics software to see what responses we receive.

In early February, we placed one of our story audios from Hear A Story website on our Hear A Story Facebook page.  The story we chose to feature was a simple English version of the story of Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well. We decided to target the Facebook users in the country of Bangladesh. Within ten days, our analytics showed that 16,376 people from Bangladesh had listened to that story.

While Social Media has not been a significant part of our outreach to date, given this number of responses, we are convinced that we need to increase our capacity in that area. To do this, we have begun to research the best ways to use social media as a ministry tool and have started to assemble a volunteer team to help us expand our social media presence. Our goal is to use our writing to reach more people and to develop strategies to help us better connect with the people who respond to our posts in the days ahead.
