CSM Completes Text for Newest Book
By Tom Castor | October 21, 2020 | News
For several months, we have been working to complete the content for our newest book, Simple Answers to Not So Simple Questions. The book is a series of essays written to expand on the content of Simple Truths, our evangelical catechism.
The essays will first appear as blogs on our www.asimpleword.org site. Then the blogs will be edited to form the 75 chapters of the book. Each chapter is written in simplified English style using a limited vocabulary set and restricted grammar.
Each chapter of the book will be between 800-900 words in length. The book targets readers who are new to English and have a limited knowledge of the content of the Bible. All of the chapters will be easily readable for anyone with more than a grade 4 reading level.
With the essays, introduction, wordlists and index this work totals just under 70,000 words. These essays are now beginning a period of field testing.
After field testing is complete, we will do final edits and proceed to send the content to the book designer for layout. If you are interested to see the early drafts of the content, they will be posted on our website over the next two weeks.
Once the book design is completed, we will begin crafting a series of questions that will form the core of an online course. This course will be offered through our website, along with a Bible survey course using the Travel Guide to the Bible as a text. Our longer-term goal is to have all of the content of our sites, including the online courses, translated into French for use by our partners in Francophone West Africa.
