For more than a decade, we have enjoyed a partnership with “Rova” in Myanmar. “Rova” (Lai Ro Thanga) is a Presbyterian pastor ministering in Yangon. He was one of the first people to pursue translation and distribution of the “little book” (Simple Truths) outside of Vietnam. To date, that book has gone through three print runs in Myanmar in both Burmese and Mizo-Chin.

In the following years, Rova has overseen translation projects that have put The Travel Guide to the Bible and God’s Story; Our Story in Burmese and Mizo-Chin, and has distributed the books widely through his extensive network of evangelical pastors. Since 2016, he has been the man personally responsible for placing nearly 30,000 books into the hands of pastors, church-planters, and passionate Christians throughout the country.

We have written multiple times about the trials that Myanmar has been experiencing since the coup d’état in February 2021. But despite working in very challenging circumstances, his partnership with Clear & Simple Media continues to grow and bear fruit.

A few days ago, I asked Rova for a brief update on the translation and publication projects there. What follows is his reply. 

Dear Tom,

I hope that you are doing well. I am writing to let you know that we are almost ready to bring the two books, Simple Stories from the Life of Jesus and Jesus Story: God’s Promise. The editing work on them was done. We are now working on adding page numbers, designing the cover, and arranging the pages. It will take us about two weeks because we can’t work full-time. Then we will be ready to bring them to the printing press.

I strongly believe and pray that the two books will also be very helpful to Christians and churches in Myanmar, as this kind of book is rare, simple, clear, and touching. I myself like them very much. I do believe that the books will greatly help new believers here in our country. If funds for printing them become available soon, I would truly like them printed before Christmas 2025. I want to make 1,000 copies of each book. Each copy will cost about 3 USD. 2,000 copies cost US$6,000. Thus, I would need USD 6,000 for the total expenses for printing the two books.

By the way, I am very glad to tell you that your books, such as Simple Truths, God’s Story Our Story, and Travel Guide To the Bible, are greatly welcomed by many Christians here. I heard from some people who have the books saying that they benefit so much from them that they grow in the knowledge of the Scriptures. Travel Guide to the Bible helps many Christians, including some pastors and Bible teachers, understand the Bible more.

We ran out of Simple Truths booklet copies three years ago. It is helpful to many Christian missionaries, pastors, and Sunday school teachers. They often ask me if the copies are still with me. If God wills and there are funds available for printing it again, I would love to do so. I want to make 2,000 copies of it. One copy will cost about 1.50 USD. 2,000 copies will cost 3,000 USD. We still have the soft copy.

I am praying that the new project will be finished well and the two books will be used by God to strengthen the believers and to bring non-believers to Christ.
