2018 Begins with good news

Church leaders in India are telling us good news about the impact of Clear and Simple Media publications. Last fall, with the help of Advancing Indiginous Mission in Canada, we were able to distribute 50,000 Simple Truths books to multiple church planting networks in Central and Southern India. Word has come back to us that the books “are in use in many places. The books are so good. They point people to the Bible and use simple words that do not confuse them.” Earlier in 2017, we were able to respond to a request from Northern India to produce a translation of the “little book” in the Maithili language. Reports have come back that the churches are actively using the books there as a primary tool to disciple new believers.
Recent news from Burkina Faso informs us that the printing of 5,000 books in the Gourmantché language will begin in January. Distribution to churches planted by SIM over the past 50 years will begin as soon as they come off of the press. We have also received new requests to make the books available in two additional languages in West Africa. We are in the process of identifying translators and checkers for these languages, which we hope to complete by March of 2018.
In addition, Clear and Simple Media is completing a project with OM Press in India to print 20,000 Simple Truths books in 15 different languages. These books (available in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, German, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Indonesian, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Tagalog, and Vietnamese) are being printed for use by churches in English-speaking countries as they seek to reach and disciple immigrants and refugees who are arriving in their neighbourhoods.
